Kambaba Jasper Pendant
Kambaba Stone from Madagascar
Kambaba stone also known as Kambaba Jasper from Madagascar, a unique and relatively rare material that features black swirling orb-like patterns against a backdrop of rich green colour. Mounted in a hand crafted sterling silver setting, this highly polished cabochon has a silky smooth texture and makes a wonderfully unique ladies pendant.
Kambaba jasper is classified as a rock not a mineral and its geological make up stems from a stromatolite which is a rock-like structure that forms in shallow seas. Stromatolites are created by bacteria which has gradually been replaced by silica over millions of years
A rather complicated stone and one which has caused a great deal of confusion, the mystery surrounding Kamaba Jasper has finally be unravelled but it took hours of extensive research before we finally understood everything that there was to know about this stone. Full details can be found in our article on Kambaba Jasper and we hope that you find it as fascinating as we did.
There is a small firescale mark in the sterling silver setting which can be seen in our second photo. These marks sometimes occur whilst the silver is being worked on at very high temperatures. For this reason this kambaba pendant has been slightly reduced.
