Kabamba stone also known as kambaba jasper, crafted as a pendant in fine sterling silver. This striking piece features a square shaped cabochon with soft rounded corners. This stone can only be found in the Bongolava region of Madagascar. Its geological make-up stems from a stromatolite which is a rock-like structure that forms in shallow seas. It's made up of bacteria that has gradually over many years been replaced by silica. Some of these fossils are believed to date back around three billion years.Kambaba jasper is often confused for kabamby ocean jasper. Despite the similarity in the names, they're different stones which formed under very different conditions.
