Rhodonite gemstone pendant featuring a marquise shaped cabochon. Having been carefully chosen by one of our team, this stone was then transformed into a pendant necklace by one of a small team of skilled artisans with whom we've been working for many years. Crafted entirely by hand in a fine sterling silver setting, it comes in a colourful gift pouch that will help keep the stone safe whilst also minimising any build-up of tarnish.
Although once used in India as an ore of manganese, today rhodonite is used primarily as a lapidary material and also for mineral specimens. Although crystals do occur they're extremely rare and stones are usually found in massive form meaning it has no definitive shape and the crystals which are present occur as one large mass. Transparent rhodonite crystals are highly sought after by collectors and can command exceptional prices. They don't tend to be used for gemstones because they're very fragile and there's no room for error.
In the world of crystal healing rhodonite is used to dispel tension and anxiety, it activates love energies and can also help to heal wounds of the heart.
The black markings in rhodonite are inclusions of manganese oxide and the amount that's present can vary from the tiniest spot to swathes which almost cover the entire surface of the stone.
