Bumblebee Jasper
Bumblebee Jasper aka Eclipse Stone
Polished bumblebee jasper gemstone crafted as a ladies pendant in a fine sterling silver setting. This distinctive and relatively rare gemstone comes from the volcanic island of Java in Indonesia and when cut as a cabochon is also known as eclipse or eclipse stone. This is a trade name created by stone cutters and manufacturers in Jaipur in India where most of the world's cabochons are cut and polished.
The yellow colouration in bumblebee jasper is said to be caused by the presence of sulphur which some say contains orpiment, a sulphide of arsenic. Others who have closely examined the material claim it's a type of calcite and not jasper at all with no trace of orpiment.
Whatever bumblebee jasper actually is, it's a unique and eye-catching stone and each piece featured in our collection has been chosen for its unique qualities and characteristics.
This light weight bumblebee jasper pendant has been crafted entirely by hand for Stone Mania and comes in a colourful gift pouch that will help keep the stone safe and minimise any build-up of tarnish on the sterling silver.
