Sodalite Pendant
Sodalite Polished Gemstone Pendant
Polished sodalite cabochon gemstone mounted as a ladies pendant in a timeless sterling silver setting.
Sodalite is sometimes mistaken for the blue metamorphic rock known as lapis lazuli but the two materials are actually quite different. Apart from lapis lazuli being a rock (not a mineral) because it's made up of several different minerals and sodalite being a mineral because it's made up of crystals, sodalite is never included with pyrite. It's not unknown for all blue sodalite stones to be used as fake lapis lazuli because as well as being more readily available it's also considerably cheaper.
Ontario, British Columbia, Maine in the USA and Brazil have the world's largest sodalite deposits but smaller quantities can also be found in Greenland, Russia, Montana and India.
This distinctive gemstone features inclusions of orange calcite which add a wonderful splash of colour. This comfortably light weight sodalite pendant could be worn on one of our Italian made sterling silver snake chains. Available in 16", 18" and 20" lengths, purchase both items and receive £2 off the regular price of the chain.
