Beautiful rose quartz rough stone from our collection of rocks and minerals. The top which has been lightly polished has been cut into a point.
The crystal habit of rose quartz is massive which means crystals grow tightly together to form one large mass. Individual crystals have never been found.
Well formed pink crystals do occur but the mineral is a slightly different variety of rose quartz. To distinguish one from the other it tends to be known as pink quartz.
Apart from being much rarer, one of the most significant differences is the colour of 'pink quartz' is very sensitive to light. Although the colour of rose quartz is generally considered to be stable, some material has been been known to fade. Any loss of colour was caused by exposure to sunlight.
