For ladies who love chunky jewellery this lemon quartz pendant is a piece not to be missed. The unusually large stone was cut and polished from a tumbled quartz crystal by a local craftsman before being mounted in sterling silver by our own team of artisans. The reason for it being offered at a knockdown price is because it does have some minor imperfections but you'll need to look closely to notice. As a result we were able to purchase this lemon quartz at a price that was too good to refuse. The sterling silver setting in which it's mounted was crafted by hand and features our unique SM hallmark from the London Assay Office. It's a gorgeous piece of jewellery that's sure to be enjoyed by anyone who loves natural rocks and minerals.
Lemon quartz is produced by heating amethyst until the desired shade of colour is achieved. Heating rocks and minerals to enhance or change their colour completely mimics natural geological occurrences that take place over thousands of years. The earliest reference to this practice can be found in the works of Ancient philosopher and successor to Aristotle, Theophrastus who wrote in his reference on gemstones "amethyst loses its colour in the fire like the sapphire and emerald". Most of the world's finest gems are exposed to some degree of heat in order to maximise their beauty which in turn increases value.
