Quartz Geode with Sparkling Crystals
Quartz geodes come in a wide variety of different shapes and sizes but this one is particularly interesting because of its shape. The horn-like cavity is lined with subtle pink coloured quartz crystals which sparkly incessantly as they catch the light.
The word geode refers to a large open rock with a cavity that's lined most commonly with quartz crystals but calcite, pyrite, celestite and opal are also relatively common. The exterior of the rock is usually chalcedony which is a cryptocrystalline variety of the mineral quartz.
This eye catching quartz geode would make a great addition to any collection of rough or polished rocks and minerals and would also make a wonderfully unique gift.
