Amethyst Included with Citrine
A meticulously chosen amethyst crystal subtly included with citrine. This exceptional terminated point boasts tantalising colour and fascinating crystallisation. When held up towards the light the true magnificence of Mother Nature's artwork becomes even more apparent. The yellow colouration that can be seen in this crystal is likely to be the mineral citrine. Some tiny rainbows of iridescent colour are also visible if you look carefully.
Citrine and amethyst are both varieties of the mineral quartz yet rarely occur together in nature. When they do the stone becomes known as ametrine but the vast majority of this rare material comes from a single mine in Bolivia although smaller quantities have also been found in India and Brazil.
Amethyst is the birthstone for February, citrine the birthstone for November.
This amethyst crystal would make an outstanding ornamental piece but don't place it too close to a sunny window because the colour will fade if exposed to bright sunlight for long periods of time. Excessive heat can also cause the colour of amethyst to change. In fact the vast majority of commercial grade citrine is produced by heating amethyst.
