These incredibly eye-catching tumbled stones are spessartine garnet in limestone matrix. Matrix is the surrounding rock, the garnet is the reddish orange to brown coloured material.
Spessartine is a variety of the mineral garnet which can be red to reddish orange, yellowish brown, reddish brown or brown. Although found in several countries around the world the stone was named after the Spessart Mountains in Bavaria.
These beautifully polished tumbled stones come from the remote Kunene region in north west Namibia.
