Polished Blue Lace Agate from Namibia
Highly polished blue lace agate stones from the original mine in Namibia.
Small amounts of blue lace agate can be found in Malawi and Zambia. Until fairly recently the vast majority of material has come from a mine in southern Namibia close to the border with South Africa.
The deposit known as Ysterputz on farm 254, Karasburg West was taken over by George Swanson in the late 1960's. He subsequently mined it extensively until his death in 2010.
The deposit is now closed and has been for several years. Mining operations are unlikely to recommence any time soon. For this reason blue lace agate from this location is now in high demand.
We fell in love with these blue lace agate stones as soon as we saw them but sadly there were only five available. Slightly translucent and exceptionally tactile, each one is beautifully unique in its own way.
Some magnificent photos of blue lace agate can be found here. Material cannot be purchased through the website or from the owner. The site has been set up purely for information purposes.
