Natural Black Obsidian
When used for its metaphysical properties black obsidian should be handled carefully because it's exceptionally powerful.
Associated with mystery and darkness, it uncovers the truth by cutting through lies and deceit. Its strength may be overwhelming for those who are new to crystals.
Obsidian is volcanic glass which forms from lava that cools and solidifies. Due to the speed at which the molten rock cooled, crystals did not have time to grow. Obsidian is therefore a non crystalline solid. These naturally occurring materials are also known as mineraloids or amorphous solids.
Obsidian is not a mineral because minerals are crystalline or in other words, made up of crystals.
These four pieces of black obsidian are rough and unpolished. They have a vitreous lustre so reflect light instead of absorbing it.
Obsidian breaks in a similar way to glass. It's one of the sharpest natural materials.
