A striking amethyst geode from Uruguay with large translucent crystals. Colour zoning is common in amethyst which means different shades of colour can be seen within the same crystal. This characteristic can be clearly seen in this piece.
Some of the world's finest amethyst comes from South America and in particular from Brazil and Uruguay.
The colour of amethyst is sensitive to light and exposure for long periods of time will cause it to fade. For this reason it should not be placed in direct sunlight.
In the metaphysical world amethyst is a powerful and protective stone that's also a natural tranquilizer. It blocks geopathic stress caused by electromagnetic fields (EMF) so the main living area of the home is a great place for an amethyst geode.
As with all the rocks and minerals in our collection this chunky amethyst quartz geode was individually chosen during one of our many trips to South Africa.
