A beautiful charoite cabochon with incredible colour and an exceptional polish. This striking mineral which can only be found in Siberia in Russia's Far East is mined in the Sirenevy Kamen deposit close to the Chara River Valley. This is the only deposit in the world where this mineral can be found.
Widely used for decorative purposes this rock forming mineral was first introduced to the world outside of Russia as recently as 1978. An opaque mineral with a colour unlike any other, fine grade stone is not easy to find and only limited quantities are available for sale around the world.
An impressive charoite cabochon and the only piece in this size that we currently have available in our collection. There is a small chip on the lower edge of the stone where it meets the base. If it's to be mounded in a setting it won't be seen otherwise it could be gently polished out. The chip measures 3mm x 1mm and with it being along the base certainainly doesn't spoil this beautiful gemstone. It can just about be seen in the centre of the bottom front edge in our fourth photo.
