Three kambaba jasper gem grade cabochons carefully chosen by the team at Stone Mania. These highly polished grade A stones exhibit a vitreous lustre so reflect light instead of absorbing it. The lustre on the back of the stone is dull because it has only been polished for smoothness.
Kambaba gemstones of this size and particularly this grade are not readily available. The stones in our collection were all cut for us from rough stone.
Kambaba jasper is also known as crocodile jasper, green stromatolite jasper and occasionally star galaxy jasper. The name star galaxy was created by stone cutters in Jaipur in India where many of the world's gemstones are cut and polished.
Despite being called jasper, kambaba which can only be found in Madagascar is in fact volcanic. That means it's not a jasper at all. For this reason kambaba stone would be a more suitable name. In Madagascar it's also known as kabamba after the area in the Bongolava region where it's mined.
These beautiful cabochons have an incredibly smooth texture so are incredibly tactile.
A stone of confidence and positivity, it guides, encourages and opens the mind to new ideas and concepts. The clarity that it brings can help us to be more open and honest with ourselves so that we can move forwards with confidence.
The cabochons in our photos are positioned in order of weight. In the first two photos the oval kambaba jasper stone is number 1 in the adjacent dropdown list. In the third and fourth photos the stone on the left is number 4.
