Sky Blue Topaz Necklace Pendant
Pretty Sky Blue Topaz pendant crafted by hand in a fine sterling silver setting. The bale of the pendant features our own SM sterling silver hallmark from the London Assay Office.
This rectangular shaped blue topaz gemstone has a concave cut. This facets in this style of cut curve inwards to scatter more light towards the centre of the gemstone.
Topaz that has been cut in this way is lighter in weight because a considerable amount of material is lost. Cutting concave facets is labour intensive and complicated but the end result is really quite impressive.
Despite topaz being relatively hard it's also very fragile. Stones are known to chip or break easily which makes cutting and polishing more difficult.
