Copper was the first metal to be used by man. Its history can be traced back at least 10,000 years. It's one of the few metals with a natural colour other than silver or grey. Pure copper is reddish-orange.
When exposed to air copper tarnishes. The tarnish in sterling silver comes from copper which is widely used as an alloy.
In humans copper is present mainly in the liver, muscle and bone.
When used in crystal healing copper copper is thought to be a conductor of energy which enables it to amplify the healing properties of other stones. It's said to have antimicrobial properties which may help it to purify and cleanse the body.
Copper balances the chakras particularly the root and sacral chakras and helps with overall physical and emotional balance. It's believed to help with the absorption of nutrients and reduce the time it takes for injuries to heal. It may also help to reduce inflammation.
Although many people around the world use copper and various crystals for their metaphysical healing properties, there is no scientific evidence to support this practice and it should never be used to replace traditional medical treatment.
