Rough Kundalini Quartz Crystal
The name kundalini quartz is only used within metaphysical healing circles. It's not an official trade name and is not used or recognised by those with a scientific interest in rocks and minerals.
Kundalini quartz is a variety of citrine that can only be found in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Zambia. It has a dull rusty-brown colour but is highly translucent. When illuminated a magical transformation takes place.
"Kundalini" is a concept rooted in Hinduism that's often associated with spiritual awakening and the expansion of consciousness. It refers to a dormant coiled energy that's believed to reside at the base of the spine. This area is known as the "root chakra" or "Muladhara" in the system of yoga and Hindu philosophy.
Kundalini is often described as a form of divine feminine energy. According to the Kundalini tradition this latent energy can be awakened and guided through a person's energy centres (chakras).
As the energy rises through the chakras it's said to lead to higher states of consciousness, self-realisation and spiritual enlightenment.
In recent years this natural citrine crystal has become associated with kundalini energy.
Our first photo was taken inside with natural daylight from an adjacent window. In our second photo this rough citrine crystal is being illuminated by a light that's just out of shot.
In photo 3 the crystal is being subtly illuminated on either side. Photos 4 and 5 were taken outisde in bright sunlight.
