Ocean Jasper Free-Standing Stone
Ocean jasper is a relatively rare variety of orbicular jasper from Madagascar. Following the discovery of the deposit in the 1950's, it remained relatively unknown until the year 2000.
Its popularity increased after having being displayed at the Tucson Mineral Fair in the USA. Just six years later the original ocean jasper deposit was mined out.
Although more gem-grade material was subsequently discovered, these veins have now also been exhausted.
This colourful ocean jasper is every bit as beautiful as it appears in our photo. Minute sparkling crystals can be seen as they reflect light from certain angles.
Finding ocean jasper of this size and grade is now extremely difficult.
