Malachite Polished Stones South Africa
Two fine grade polished malachite stones from our collection of rocks and minerals.
Malachite was the main source of copper in ancient Egypt for thousands of years.
Its use can be traced back to the Predynastic period (4400-3100 BC) and continued throughout the history of ancient Egypt.
Copper was highly sought after and played an important role in many aspects of Egyptian society.
These malachite stones were mined and polished in South Africa.
They have a silky-smooth texture and vitreous lustre so reflect light beautifully.
Malachite is a soft, fragile mineral that should not be allowed to get wet.
