Bumblebee Jasper Stone from Indonesia
Bumblebee jasper is a sedimentary rock with vibrant yellow colour. Tests have shown the yellow is from sulphur.
This distinctive material is relatively rare. It comes from the vicinity of Mount Papandayan in Java, Indonesia.
Bumblebee jasper is believed to be made up of volcanic ash, mud and layers of sulfur. It contains realgar which is an arsenic sulphide.
Once polished stones with toxic elements are completely safe to handle.
Bumblebee jasper is almost completely mined out so stones of this size and grade are not easy to find.
