Aquamarine Crystals Small Sizes
Grade-C aquamarine crystals in smaller sizes. These highly polished stones are a lower grade because they have a slightly greener hue. Due to inclusions, some are more opaque than translucent.
Aquamarine is the blue variety of the mineral beryl, a mineral that's better known through its gemstone varieties. Fine-quality blue beryl is classified as aquamarine, while fine-quality green beryl is emerald.
Other varieties of beryl include morganite, which occurs in shades of pink, goshenite, which is colourless, and red beryl, which is exceptionally rare.
The distinction between blue beryl and aquamarine is based primarily on colour intensity and the quality of the stone. Pale material is often described as blue beryl, while more saturated blue to blue-green stones should be aquamarine. However, in practice, much of the blue beryl sold is labelled as aquamarine.
In its purest form, beryl is colourless. Trace amounts of iron produce colours ranging from blue to blue-green.
As with all tumbled stones produced in a rotary rock tumbler, size does vary from piece to piece. Despite the lower grade, these aquamarine crystals have a distinctive colour, and their fine polish makes them incredibly tactile.
