Charoite Crystals Grade A from Russia
Rich purple coloured charoite from the world's only deposit in Russia's Far East.
Prior to being officially identified in 1977 charoite was unknown outside of Russia. It's believed to have been discovered as early as 1949.
Charoite was named after the Chara River even though it's some distance from the where the stone is found.
It's not known for certain how much material is left available to mine. For this reason the Republic of Sakha have restricted the amount of charoite that can be mined each year to 100 tons.
This striking material is highly sought after by collectors and widely used for its healing properties. Charoite grades 5 to 6 on Mohs scale of mineral hardness.
There are now significant tarifs on most products imported from Russia. This is making the importation of charoite far more difficult.
These beautiful grade A charoite tumbled stones are a medium size. Size can vary from piece to piece.
