Polished Quartz Point
A truly spectacular quartz point from our collection of crystals, rocks and minerals. It has to be said this is one of my favourite pieces and is currently housed in my own personal collection where it will stay until it finds a new home. With crystal quartz being colourless and either translucent or transparent it's an incredibly difficult mineral to photograph well. For this reason we often take photos in different environments and against different backgrounds but sadly it's rarely possible to capture the true beauty of a piece like this in a photo. The only way to really appreciate it is to actually have it in your hands.
With the reflection of light magical rainbows of colour can be seen and in sections where the quartz is not included it's completely transparent.
Quartz which has evolved over millions of years is the most diverse mineral in terms of varieties, colours and forms because of its abundance and widespread distribution. It has been used by man for thousands of years and as well as being highly sought after by collectors, is widely used in industry.
Quartz, quartz crystal or crystal quartz is often colourless and transparent which is how the phrase "crystal clear" came about. Only this type of quartz may correctly be referred to as rock crystal. Although it also occurs in many colours ranging from milky white to almost black, these varieties tend to be translucent.
If you're someone who loves quartz and are looking for something rather special, this piece certainly won't disappoint.
Our photos were taken in natural daylight, no artificial lighting was used.
