Tiger Iron Pendant
Another beautiful tiger iron pendant from our tantalising collection of crystals, rocks and minerals. This impressive gemstone has been mounted in a fine sterling silver setting and having been finely cut, it makes a sleek and elegant piece of jewellery.
Although often confused for the gemstone tigers eye due to the similarity in colour, the markings in tiger iron are actually quite different. Made up of layers of tigers eye, red jasper and hematite, tiger iron formed over two billion years ago as deposits of these three minerals slowly smashed together as tectonic plates shifted to create the Australian continent. The markings that we see in the stone today are the result of extreme pressure on the original crystals whose presence can be seen in the distinctive layers.
This tiger iron pendant has been added to our Bargain Basement because the bale at the top is very slightly off centre although to notice you'll have to look very closely.
