Septarian pendant crafted for Stone Mania in a classic sterling silver setting. Septarian is an unmistakable stone that's particularly striking when cut as a cabochon. It tends to be slightly heavier due to the fact that it's partly made up of clay. For this reason many septarian pendants feature relatively small finely cut cabochons but these rarely have the same impact as pieces of this size.
This highly polished cabochon boasts distinctive yellow calcite crystals within a border of aragonite and limestone. This formation is typical of septarian and part of the reason why it's so popular as a lapidary material.
Gemstone jewellery must be comfortable to wear and that's something we're very aware of when choosing larger stones for our collection of ladies pendants. With that said, despite the size of this piece it's not overly chunky or heavy and really does make a great ladies pendant.
This septarian pendant has been added to the Bargain Basement because there are some minor polishing issues which can be seen in our photos. The relatively small marks which lay just beneath the surface of the stone could really have been polished out. Although noticeable if you look carefully, they certainly don't spoil this piece but nonetheless, it has been reduced as a result.
