This gorgeous Amethyst pendant has an absolutely awesome colour and having been expertly faceted, as soon as it catches the light, it comes alive and sparkles beautifully. Unfortunately as a result of our limited photographic skills, our photo doesn't do this Amethyst pendant that justice that it deserves. Purple has always been considered to be a colour of royalty and Amethyst has been in great demand throughout history. Some of the finest examples of Amethyst have been included in royal collections from Ancient Egypt to the British Crown Jewels. It is one of the few gemstones which is as popular when it's faceted as it is when it's polished as a cabochon. The rich purple colour for which Amethyst is so well known, is caused by impurities of Iron or Manganese within the Quartz. It is the birthstone for the month of February.
