Black Onyx Necklace

A stunning Black Onyx necklace with a slightly ethnic design featuring highly polished beads and sterling silver.  This necklace fastens with a simple 'S' hook and was made by hand exclusively for Stone Mania.

Few people are aware that the vast majority of Black Onyx is actually dyed and even though this has been going on for thousands of years, it became extremely popular during the reign of Queen Victoria because of her love for black jewellery following the death of Prince Albert.  It is often used used for rosary beads as the Christians followed the Pagan belief that it had great medicinal benefits.

The length of this Black Onyx necklace is 46.5cms and the diameter of the Black Onyx ball is 1.9cms.  It weighs 93.2 grams.
