

A common mineral which has the ability to capture and hold radioactive and metal contaminants. Large amounts are found in bones and smaller amounts in rocks. The mineral that comprises the gemstone Apatite, hydroxyl apatite, is a major component of bone and tooth enamel.
It has many uses one of which is for fertilizer because it is a rich source of phosphorous. It is also used as a gemstone, to fluoridate water and to put protective coatings on metals to prevent rust.
