An Indian tribe is any tribe (historical or currently in existance), band, nation or other group or community of Indigenous Peoples in the Americas. The American Indians are also called Native Americans and lived in the Americas long before the Europeans arrived. The name Indian came about because Christopher Columbus thought he had reached Eastern India.
Most Indians live in tribes which is a group of people who share the same ancestory, customs, beliefs and leaders. The arrival of the Europeans brought about the end of most Indian populations and cultures.
