Mont Saint-Hilaire is in the Montérégie region of southern Quebec. It lies approximately thirty kilometers east of Montreal and immediately east of the Richelieu river. The towns of Mont-Saint-Hilaire and Saint-Jean-Baptiste are situated close by. The region holds a wide variety of minerals which are exploited by a quarry on the north-eastern side of the mountain. Furthermore the soil is ideal for the growth of apple trees and the mountain's orchards draw tens of thousands of visitors each year.
