Dendritic Agate

dendritic agatea
The term dendrite which comes from the Greek word 'dendron' meaning 'a tree' and 'Agate' came from the river Achates now known as the Dirillo river in South West Sicily where it was first found.

Dendritic Agate contains visible impurities in the form of 'dendrites', these are branching figures or markings which closely resemble moss, a shrub or form of a tree.  The 'dendrites' or impurities within Dendritic Agate are very common and can be compared to the snowflake like patterns on a window caused by snow or ice.

Agate has been found with the remains of Stone Age man in France from as early as 20,000-16,000 B.C. and the Ancient Egyptians used Agates prior to 3000 B.C. for talismans amulets seals, rings and vessels.

Dendritic Agate is white or grey in colour or a mixture of both and is often similar in appearance to Japanese porcelain.  Its natural healing properties include encouraging gentleness and the enjoyment of life as well as opening and activating the chakras.  Dendritic Agate signifies plenitude and provides for abundance and fullness in one's life.

It was used in Ancient Greece to produce plentiful crops and is conducive to generous yields both in ones business and personal life.  It can also be used to treat the skeletal system and provides alignment of the bone structure as well as being able to treat nervous system disorders and relieve pain.
