Orthoceras fossils date back to the Silurian age (400+ million years ago) and were among the earliest forms of life. They are also believed to have been one of the most intelligent forms of ocean life.

Finding really nice orthoceras fossils to use can be quite a challenge and choosing this gemstone variety is always a lot of fun. They always prove to be extremely popular and we currently only have two pieces left in stock.

The detail in this orthoceras stone is just amazing and it has been superbly polished.
