Dumortierite is a dark blue gemstone with a similar appearance to denim. It is sometimes mistaken for sodalite and has been known to have been used as imitation lapis lazuli which is generally more expensive. Dumortierite is also used in the manufacture of high grade porcelain and is categorized in some highly respected gemstone publications as being a rare mineral. In crystal healing, dumortierite is said to promote accomplishments, positive attitude, courage, trust, harmony and can help one to cope with panic and fear. It enhances organizational abilities, including precision and self discipline and also helps one to become more business like, systematic, tidy and methodical. Dumortierite is said to help reduce excitability and eliminate stubbornness. It is also an excellent stone for patience, allowing for the recognition of the potential of any or all with whom one is involved. Dumortierite is found in France, Canada, Italy, Madagascar, Namibia, Norway, Poland, Russia, Sri Lanka, and the United States.
